THE MAN BEHIND
THE LENS

David Girsh

CONSERVATIONIST.
PHOTOGRAPHER.
STORYTELLER.

Since he was just a kid, spending time at the beach or anywhere near the ocean has been David's favourite thing to do. At the age of 15, he became a certified diver and rapidly climbed the certification ladder, achieving Instructor status by 21.

That qualification became a passport. David embarked on a journey that led him far from his home country, Israel, to explore the world's most stunning destinations, from the frigid waters of New Zealand and South Australia to the balmy embrace of the Caribbean and the exotic allure of the South Pacific Islands.

Photography has always held a special place in David's heart, both above and below the water's surface. Today, his creative energies are channelled into videography and documentary filmmaking, where he lends his expertise to conservation organisations working to protect the world's most vulnerable marine ecosystems.

It's a journey marked by a deep connection with the ocean, a passion for preservation, and a commitment to sharing the wonders of the underwater world with anyone willing to dive in.

At the core of everything is a simple belief: education is the key to any real change. Photography, film, and storytelling are powerful tools, they create connection and shift perspective in ways that data alone never can. But there's no substitute for being there. Hands-on experience in a place, with the people who call it home, is what transforms a visitor into someone who genuinely understands what's at stake and why it matters.

"MY ONLY TIP IS TO SURROUND YOURSELF WITH OTHERS WHO ARE PASSIONATE, AND JUST GET OUT THERE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE"

NGO & DOCUMENTARY WORK
Producing photography and film content for conservation NGOs, research organisations, and community groups. The camera is the tool, the goal is always to amplify the voices of the people and places doing the hard work of protecting our oceans, reefs, and wild spaces.
